The scourge of Encephalitis
The scourge of Encephalitis

Every year the scourge of Encephalitis hits Gorakhpur and it’s neighbouring areas in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The local hospital in the district fills up, children lie like flies, sometimes three-four to a bed, their eyes are taped shut and tubes make a maze around their frail bodies. Some make it, others don’t. The pitiable health infrastructure, sanitation remain constant. The disease has claimed at least 50,000 lives since 1978. The documentary on ibnlive.com is available to those logging from India and the rest of the world. US and Canada remain exceptions on account of territorial rights.
